Erica received her M.A. and PhD in Social Psychology from Purdue University. She specialized in the field of social cognition, which basically examines how people think about themselves, other people, and their social world. She has spent a significant amount of time as an experimental psychologist, with her most recent research focusing on studying people’s intuitive gut reactions to other people and objects, and how those rapid gut reactions might influence downstream judgments and behaviors. It is her interest in how people think about their world and their interactions in it that led her to the field of human factors and user experience research.
